Since 2007 we have had “static” surface scanners that can document the shape of the face and head. The new “dynamic” scanner “3dMDhead.u” that we intend to procure will be used for acquiring dynamic sequences of the human face in motion. It will be used for research related to treatment of children with craniofacial anomalies. The new system will replace our current system.

The contracting institution is the 3D-Lab (3D Craniofacial Image Research Laboratory), which is a research unit physically located at the School of Dentistry, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. The unit carries out research in the interface between medicine/dentistry and engineering. In particular, its mission is to develop state-of-the-art medical image analysis methodologies and apply them to craniofacial research.
